Sensory Deprivation - Kiersten Rakisits

https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive

For my sensory deprivation I didn't talk for two days, on the second day I lay perfectly still in complete darkness for an hour and blocked out all sound except the white noise of a fan playing through headphones.  My goal was to sit for two undisturbed hours.  I created an audio piece to replicate my experience.  At first my mind was very busy with thoughts and trying to keep myself busy so time would pass faster, and the noise of the fan was obvious and almost to the point of overbearing.  I was anxious and a little stressed.  After a while my thoughts slowed down as I tried focusing on the sound of the fan.  Once focused on the fan I became less anxious and was able to calm down.  After some time had passed the sound of the fan seemed to be more distant or to disappear altogether.  I was at a relaxed state almost to the point of falling asleep.  Once close to an hour had passed my hair tie was starting to hurt the back of my head.  The more I thought about it the more I grew increasingly aware of it and wanted to move to relive the pain, but I figured it was only another hour or so left before my timer would go off.  I tried distracting myself with other thoughts to not focus on it anymore.  Just a little over an hour in however I recieved a text message that interrupted.  I ended my experiment at one hour four minutes and eight seconds.  If I did this or something similar again in the future I would make sure notifications couldn't  come through and no one could enter the room, and I wouldn't put my hair up.
