Self Portrait and Time - Kamilla Earlywine

I spent some time outside in the warm sunshine, which inspired me to photograph flowers. After spending 15 minutes photographing flowers, I started taking photo's of myself. I then layered 5 photo's together in Photoshop with varying opacity's and added lens flare.

Walking A Line - Brianna Borst.

Five Years.
Five representing my roommates and I.
Years representing time you connect with other individuals.
The entanglement between the both is what is represented.

Walking a Line - Dalton Johnson

I took these photos at the Meadow Hot Springs in Fillmore, Utah. I created a path for myself, with a marked beginning and a marked end. I then walked between these two points 3 times. Once I reached an end, I would take a photo. Then, I would repeat this process and try to recreate the same photos each time. I then took each photograph (3 for the beginning and 3 for the end) and blended them together.

Walking A Line - Brianna Borst.

When given the freedom to choose where to walk for 31 minutes, my first thoughts were "to get away." I chose to walk South, away from the Snow College campus, as if I was headed toward Manti and beyond. Going through this experience reminded me of when I would sit at the elementary near my house in Cedar. It's one of my favorite places. This spot over sees the I-15. I would spend most of my days there in the summer watching the sun go down. As cars would continuously pass by in the distance, I would think of how desperately I wanted to be in one of those cars headed toward my home - California. But every time, I would remind myself that that wasn't logical, that my place was where I was, even if I dreamed of "getting away" and going back. So that's what this walk felt like to me, I wanted to get away, but knew I would have to return to where I needed to be. I collected pieces of nature along the way to create an infinity sign to symbolize my journey of wanting to leave and knowing I would have to return, a consist, on-going cycle I go through. Each item represents something important to me.

the rocks - a strong foundation - place of birth
tree branches - hands reaching out, but also letting go
wood chips - collecting memories along the way
leaves - beauty preserved from the past

Walking A Line- Kamilla Earlywine

I chose to walk back & forth between two similar trees creating a path in the snow. This spot appealed to me because the snow was fairly undisturbed, and I knew I could make a visible line. I walked back and forth between the trees for 31 minutes. I found the process to be quite meditative. I thought of each tree being a choice in life, both good, healthy choices. The act of going back and forth between the two symbolizes indecision. Many times I have had a difficult time choosing between two (or more) options. I have mentally gone back and forth between choices, weighing them, taking "sides" depending on my mood, and then changing my mind easily. As I walked I noticed I was most comfortable standing at either end, under a tree. The act of walking between the two was much less comfortable. For me, this symbolizes the discomfort in not knowing which option to choose and the sort of insanity that comes from bouncing back and forth, not being able to fully commit to something.

As I thought more literally about walking, I remembered all the times I have used walking as a form of transportation. When I was too young to drive, when I had no money for gas, when my husband & I shared a car, or when I simply enjoyed the excercise. There were locations that stuck out to me as places that I have done a lot of walking in. I found photo's of these places online, printed them out, cut them into triangles & assembled them into a collage.

I chose to walk my line in the middle of Ephraim disk golf course.
I was going nowhere. My line was short and I walked back and forth.
Within the repetition of going back and forth, I changed the way I was walking and repeated those sub-processes.
The drawing I made was as straight as I could make it and was roughly 1'x30'

Walk a Line- Nathan Mortensen

This must be a dream.
I feel no sense of urgency to be doing something.
I have only one goal.
Walk and feel.
Just like a dream.
Nothing is going on.
All the people are props.
Time isn't moving.
The simulation will end when I wake.
I wait and then I wake.
I wait some time for time to start again.
The simulation will be real and open then.
