PERSONAL MANIFESTO
1. Learn from everyone, even if you don’t agree with them.
2. Stay up late or get up early if you need to, but work through the times when the ideas are slow.
3. Allow and expect feedback. Your work can always be improved.
4. Create work that will cause people to pause and look. Allow there to be more meaning to be found for those who seek it.
5. Hard work and time can make up for any skill you may feel you are lacking.
6. Research. If you haven’t thought it out, the idea probably isn’t going to go very far.
7. Anywhere you are can be inspiring. Learn to look around.
8. Push yourself to create things that are out of your current capabilities. The harder you try, the more you will learn, whether it works or not.
9. Even when those around you don’t understand what you are doing, if you have a vision, they eventually will too.
10. Write down ideas as you have them, especially in the middle of the night. If it was enough to wake you up, you’ll probably want to look at it again.
11. Don’t let a lack of resources stop you. Create your own.
12. There are more projects than the ones with deadlines. Remember that they are important too.
13. Don’t stop creating, but don’t stop life in order to create. You have other responsibilities – learn to balance them.
14. Enjoy the process, whether it’s your favorite or not. You never know when something will come in handy, so you might as well enjoy doing it.
15. Show others your work! Growth, appreciation, and opportunities won’t happen until you put yourself out there.
16. Ask questions. Make connections. The best time to act is now, and you never know what is waiting for you.
