Commitment documentation - Aly Barwick

30 day commitment-Have a conversation about art everyday out of class, no matter how simple

  1. Made a character with my roommate verbally and then sketched them out. We also talked about how to improve and properly draw ethnic features of those who are Black skinned.

  2. Today Ryan and I talked and citiqued our 3d project out of class. We really focused on colors.

  3. My roommate and I discussed our 300 items project.

  4. Talked with my roommate about methods to keep yourself focused while doing art that doesn’t particularly interest you.

  5. Video chatted with my sister over the phone. We talked about her previous artworks and how she planned on progressing. It was nice to see her point of view.

  6. Held a conversation with my Dungeons and Dragons group. Some of them wanted to do an art swap and it made me very excited!

  7. My roommate requested I help her design a concept for one of her classes. We sketched out ideas and went through the concept phase for the artwork.

  8. Today I sent progress on a commission towards a customer. We had a chat on what needed to be revised before the sketching process completed.

  9. Talked with some people on artfol. We critiqued a beautiful work and talked mainly about color theory.

  10. My friend and I walked around the showing in the main gallery. We had a conversation about how

  11. Briefly discussed the aesthetic of Korean culture and how it could be implemented into our art in a respectful manner.

  12. Father and I talked on how to make a better composition for photos, specifically the beauty of candid photography.

  13. My father and I discussed the purpose and meaning of 3d art and the beauty it can have in the world.

  14. Talked with my client on a commission. We talked about how the commission could be improved and what colors could be used to portray certain emotions.

  15. My roommate and I talked more on character design, mainly on shape language and how that can impact the presence of certain characters. Unique characteristics are key to it all.

  16. Out of class, I talked with my 3D professor, discussing craftsmanship and how that translates into the professional artistic community.

  17. Discussed with online friends about color theory in detail. We were interested in how colors can look like different colors depending on what other colors are surrounding it.

  18. Today I talked about photography with all of my roommates in the kitchen. Mainly we thought about photography as an artform and how hard it actually is to gain great photography.

  19. Got ready collecting and rearranging my new and old portfolios with my mom. We talked about how the order of art presented to someone can really impact their minds in different ways.

  20. My roommate and I talked even more about the character design of POC characters. We researched Korean culture and talked about what imagery could be damaging.

  21. Today I critiqued some art on artfol. The artist and I discussed anatomy mixed within a cartoony style. You can still think about anatomy as long as you know how to manipulate it.

  22. My roommate and I talked today about how personal art could and should be. We both agreed often when personality and determination is present throughout a piece, it can have a greater impact on viewers.

  23. A classmate of mine was talking about the ‘social hierarchy of art.’ We talked about how it felt very biased and the professional art scene is seen as snobby to some people for a reason.

  24. My roommate and I talked about still life art and how it can be both beneficial and detrimental to an artist. It's great practice, but can also impact the artist in a negative fashion.

  25. Today I found someone else who enjoyed the band Bear Ghosts. So we talked about the artists and how their creativity brought forth even more creativity.

  26. “You decide what matters” Is a subject my mom and I were interested in today. I told her it really applies to art and that's one reason why art is so objective.

  27. My roommate and I talked about artist terminology. We just found it interesting how no matter what hobby you gain, terminology comes up even though it makes things complicated.

  28. Aubrey, my friend and I talked about animatic tactics. I really learned that animatics are something I was interested in learning more and more about.

  29. Since yesterday I was so interested in animatics I had my friend help me make one. We talked about what I should do to improve my skills.

  30. Still on the animatic brain, an online friend and I discussed animation, specifically 2d and what kind of movements and flow we liked. We both seemed to really like the animation style presented in Promare.
