My Creative Space
- Built in the loft of my house
- Stairs from the back door lead directly to loft so visiting people don’t have to walk through entire house
- Bathroom by stairs making it a self sufficient area
- Immediately upon walking up stairs, opens into large open area which includes a family rest area, library, and open railing looking out onto the living room
- Family area includes window seat, air hockey, ping pong, some plants and has a wood style linoleum floor
- Library has bookshelves, bean bags, chairs, a window seat, and a table and carpet
- Next to the bathroom is a project/craft room for various mediums, including a sewing section and a supply counter/shelves
- Craft room also has a couple tables in the middle, a desk by the window, some plants, a fish tank, and houses the idea corner and darkroom door
- Idea corner has a white board wall and a bulletin board, allowing for any inspirations, including images, artists, or concepts to be hung and also notes to be written on the wall
- Darkroom door is a light proof turn door that leads into darkroom
- Darkroom has an enlarger, as well as a large chemical sink
- Photo processing room is connected to darkroom by curving dark hallway that blocks out light
- Photo processing room has stored darkroom chemicals, a counter, sink, and photo drying rack
- Portrait studio has connecting doors to photo processing room and library and includes a seamless wall, a hanging backdrop area, studio lights, and a printer for photos and matting station
Encourages Risks:
- Space for multiple mediums, encouraging me to get outside my comfort zone
- Accessible to my whole family, making it so I have to discuss my work more than I currently do
- Door to studio from outside that makes it more accessible to outsiders while still being in my house… encouraging me to have others interaction
- Photography studio that has a portrait setup, pushing me to branch outside my comfort zone of landscape photography
- Located within my home, accessible to family, pushing me to balance art and family
Comfort Space:
- Looks out over my living room so I can interact with home while working
- Has library and plants: some of my personal comfort elements
- Has all the things I would need to succeed, encouraging me to work on it
- Lots of natural light
- Fish tank - other living things
- Self sufficient, meaning I can produce things on my own time table
