So, going over the proposal I'm going to give Adam tomorrow, it's starting to raise some questions that I think we need to clear up before we get started on this project.
Are we aiming to cover the whole wall with these things?
If so then we're going to need to make a whole lot more than just twenty each, we'd probably be borderlining at least a hundred each at minimum, and even then I don't think we'll cover the whole wall. We also need to consider that this show is going to be up for two whole weeks so it would probably be best that we make as many as possible regardless of whether we're able to cover the wall because we need there to be enough to last through a two week period time of being exchanged for sticky notes.
Which also raises the question do we each want to buy some sticky notes and frequently stop by the Annex and restock the sticky notes when they start to run out?

I honestly don't think we need to cover the entire wall, but at least a good amount of it. Also I agree with each of us helping restock the sticky notes. We need to get the smaller ones and decide if we get the multi color or all one color. We could also make each square bigger too. It's another option
The whole wall, are we replacing them with sticky notes?
What I we did the entire room.
Okay, so yes on the rotating and checking in on the space.
Yes, I do believe the idea is to leave sticky notes for viewers to write down why the liked the piece or why the chose it on the sticky note and replace the piece they take.
I have no problem with covering a whole wall or the entire room for that matter. I honestly think that would be really fun, I'm just stating that if we do that then we're looking at making at least over a hundred little art pieces each, probably a whole lot more than that, and that does ask for quite a bit of time on our part to come up with that many.
Honestly though, they're really easy to churn out, I've got like 20 done already. They literally maybe only take five minutes each or more if you're feeling really creative :) I think we could do it, I just want to make sure everyone is on board
I'm on board, so how much do you think we should each produce?
are we doing smaller sticky notes for sure? Because I have a big stack of regular sized ones, but no worries if you want the small ones. btw, the sticky notes will probably fall off before we want them to. I guess when we come by to restock we could sticky-tack fly aways.
Should the small art squares all be the same size? we could make them a little bigger to cover more space.
I vote we keep them all the 2x2 just because it'll be more uniform looking, that and it would seem a little unfair if someone get's a big one and another person get's a little one. Granted I know they're all for free, but I think there should be some equality in this. They're not very hard to cut out, I just cut out one and traced it to create more, that or you can just measure the paper out and cut it.
That's a good idea to use sticky tack, that or we can leave a roll of masking tape. Just anything to keep them up there longer :)
I went over and measured the long wall in the Annex and just did the math, if we covered just the one long wall of the Annex it would take 1035 little 2x2 squares, 22 high and 47 across. This measurement also includes at least an inch between each one and the rows being at least a foot away from the floor, ceiling, and side walls. We don't want them to be so low that you can't see them, but also not too high so that they can't reach them. It'll still cover a huge amount of the wall, but it will also still look visually well placed.
If we divide the 1035 total into the six of us, it looks like we'd each be doing at least 172 each. That would reach the 1035 goal perfectly, but I'd recommend doing at least 180, it's only eight more than what each or goals is, but then you also can choose which ones you like better.
I don't know what it would take to cover the other two side walls, I'd have to go back over and measure them.
I think the 172 is a good goal with the amount of time we have and that'll be more than enough to last the two week period of it being up there.
woohoo! this is sounding great if you ask me! Question: should we make sure we make our little art pieces on the same kind of paper or material?
i'm in. when is this all going to be done by? yeah, maybe we should cut them out together. or melissa, since you've already got some down...show me the ropes?
I submitted the proposal today and requested that we be given till at least the end of the month to get this all together.
Sure, I can help :) It's really easy, you just get a piece of paper and cut 2 inch by 2 inch squares and do whatever you want to it. You can paint on it, draw on it, scribble, doodle, pretty much anything to it. I even cut up some old prints from printmaking I have. Cutting up photos might work to if you've got some lying around that you don't want or if you're a photographer and you have extra pics. I usually carry a bunch of the little cards around and just pull'em out in a class that's boring or something.
